VIVA LA VIDA : FRIDA KAHLO

Frida was sentenced to life in pain, wearing a metal corset for the rest of her life. However, her lust for life was so strong that she even named one of her paintings “Viva la Vida”. I have had an enormous crush on the style chops (and art, and life) of Frida Kahlo. Her style was unlike anything I have ever seen. So I am super excited to hear about an exhibition of her clothes, accessories and medical items, such as corsets and a prosthetic leg that she had to wear as a result of polio and a bus crash.

Frida was a sexually liberated woman who engaged in love affairs with women, even during her marriage to artist Diego Rivera.

MAKER

The idea was so grand I couldn't even imagine it finished; if I wanted to see it in full I would actually have to make it.

TUESDAY LAZY RIVER SAFE

It feels… so different this morning. I feel so still. I feel so different from the rest of the world. My mind is filled with good thoughts this morning. I know that in a few hours I will again feel that I am floating down a lazy river safe with my illusion and self-deception, but in the deepest of my thoughts I know that the river upon which I sail is a raging and rocky rapids that carries me more swiftly than I can comprehend toward the whirlpool at its end. Ever wake up and have one these mornings?
